A Bawdy Romp Through Time
Review by Paul L Arvidson Feb 25, 2018
This was a proper page turner! It’s really difficult to describe any of the story without spoilers as it’s such a switchback ride. But the essence is “Woman from 21st Century gets thrown back in time and hooks up with highwayman”. That turns out just as exciting as it sounds. The characters are believable, challenging and likable. C J Bahr gets the history right, dropping it in as the story unfolds but never having ‘hey look at this cool thing I know’ crop up at all. She sets and paces … Read More

When the thirst for knowlege becomes the thirst for blood
Review by leslieo Jan 21, 2018
Brogio is a vampire of old. So old that he was cursed by the gods. More than once. When he meets Kane, we are left to wonder how a vampire, as old as he, is so easily found out by Kane in Carol McKibben’s KANE: THE FIRST BLOOD SON. Likes: The camaraderie between Brogio and Kane was fun to read as their relationship as father and son was strengthened. I’m also a sucker for period pieces and enjoyed the setting for the story. While this is a novella, the characters are developed well and we … Read More

Excellent writing
Review by ashia Jan 30, 2018
I would have to say I have never read anything like this novel, so this was a refreshing change for me. In that, once I started the story, it totally absorbed me, such that I didn't notice the passage of time. My only regret is that it took so long for me to read this story, consumed as I was with personal stuff during the better part of last year. I enjoyed this book a lot, especially with the realizations that come with reading Mary's (or Lizzy) account of her childhood tragedies and terrors. … Read More

Could not get into...
Review by sj9642 Jan 12, 2018
I tried several times to get into this story and could not. I did not finish this title as it did not hold or grab my attention within the first 25% of the story. I felt the story was almost too descriptive in it's world building and being too wordy really lost my attention.

Complex and amazing!
Review by lillysbookworld Jan 26, 2018
I loved it so much! For me, this book covers a lot of ground when it comes to Romance + something else. You like a little bit of scary? You’ve got ghosts and spirits. You like a little bit of detective work? You’ve got a bad ass PI trying to solve the mystery of the girl who has not been seen by her parents (oops, sorry!)You want romance? Well, you have one amazing medium falling for the PI, while trying to help out a lost soul. Oh, and maybe, just maybe, you want all these with a nice writing? … Read More

Tortured characters with soul.
Review by jeepwonder Jan 23, 2018
The story started predictably enough. Only things went south in a hurry, the villain isn't supposed to be able to murder the star of the story. The story shifted and began again in the past where it suddenly became a period romance. Time travel romances aren't that unusual, and the usual oddities like modern terms came up as expected. But that wasn't what this story was about. We all face temptations, some more tempting than others. This story was about people who faced temptations and how they … Read More

Escaping death when it is fated may be easier said than done
Review by lacrimsonfemme Jan 1, 2018
Escaping death when it is fated may be easier said than done. New to me Author W.L. Brooks grabs me by the ruff on my neck and sucks me into this small town soap opera. Reegan McGrath escaped her small town, Willows Bluff to become the photographer she's wanted to be. Sure, she may not be traveling the world as she first thought, but she is still with her best friend, Sydney. Sydney is the poor little rich girl whose is estranged from her mother but adored by her father. Sydney's father showers … Read More

Lions, leopards and bears, oh my!
Review by lacrimsonfemme Dec 30, 2017
New to me author Ms. Dean hooks me into her fantasy world starting from the first page. Struggling to survive Ellie West is pining her dreams on a singing audition. Working as a waitress in a little cafe isn't her dreams, but it keeps her housed in a tiny apartment of her own. With no one to call family, Ellie only has two friends in the world - her boss and co-worker. How depressing is this? What is sad is that this story plays across most countries and many people are in the same situation … Read More

Very interesting
Review by rjsummers Dec 16, 2017
Legacy of evil cover In full disclosure, I was given a copy of this through Reading Alley for my review. The cover wonderfully illustrates many of the features inside the pages: horses, motorcycles, a historic hotel, and a man and woman passionately tangled up. This is a fantasy/ suspense novel dealing with terrorism on US soil. It could certainly be called paranormal too. And don’t forget the romance. Emma Horserider is the heroine. She is a former Marine, a horse whisperer, and she is … Read More
