HOT AND JUICY
Review by mistivelvet Nov 26, 2017
This hot and juicy read kept me enthralled for 400+ pages, which is quite a feat. The protagonist's dark and detailed background elucidates her motivation and complexity. The main characters are expertly constructed. They're complicated and believable, which makes for exciting sex scenes. After a rather slow start the narrative picks up the pace and maintains a nice rhythm. What I appreciate the most about this book is the unpredictability. I was definitely surprised by the twists and turns. Disclaimer: … Read More

Loved it!
Review by lauriebeemer74 Oct 24, 2017
This is the first time I have read a book by this author, and I must say that I am glad that I found his work. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The characters meet, and the meeting is not under the greatest of situations but an unexpected connection occurs. What happens when your survival depends on doing something that you thought you would never do? Could you find happiness with someone that has secrets? Sharon is like many college kids, wanting her freedom but trying to find the funds to … Read More

Good if you're in need of comfort
Review by tarafoxhall Sep 19, 2017
I picked this to review as I had lost my dad last year, and wanted some comfort. Many of the poems seem very flowery, and didn't really give me comfort (through no fault of the author), as this collection seems designed as something to share between a mother/daughter, Aunt/Niece relationship. But several really got me thinking, and I did get some comfort about my dad looking down on me and being in a better place. If you like angels, or poetry related to angels/heavenly forces looking out for you, … Read More

Blind Flock
Review by Heartracer Jul 23, 2017
When I started reading this book, I assumed that it would be about a religious cult and how a young man fell under the spell of the preacher. Somehow the story changed and something far more strange happened. Malcolm (James) is a lost young man who is no longer in his rich parent's graces. He couldn't finish what he started and flit around with no real purpose in life. His father sends him to settle his grandfather's estate. The estate was easy to clean up and get it ready for the market. Knowing … Read More

Crammed with Suspense!
Review by jeepwonder May 6, 2017
The story revolves around old myths, done in a way that made it easy for me as a reader to suspend reality. The hero was well rounded, having good and bad moments, so he was easy to identify with. The author had a style that made it easy to follow along as the plot developed. Characters developed as the story progressed, and were not stuck in stereotypes. The main character almost seemed unbelievable, but the author managed to pull it off with style and flair. The action was violent at times, … Read More
Comment from the Author
Yes, there is incest mentioned in the book. It is both a compare and contrast mechanism and social commentary. I respect the reviewer's comments but the same 'societal norms' complaints have been lodged against a number of books over the past hundred years. ('Banned in Boston' used to be good for book and movie ticket sales, years ago.) All of the characters are aware of the repercussions if such things became public knowledge. Most are not proud of what they did. Only one doesn't really care -- and he is a sociopath who doesn't care about anything or anyone outside himself. That being said, I know of one friend who stopped reading the book completely over the above because it offended her religious sensibilities -- forgetting that Lot's daughters were portrayed in the Bible doing the exact same thing and neither was condemned for it. In fact, they both gave birth to the leaders of two groups of people.(Genesis 19:30-36)

A Pastor's Journey
Review by Heartracer May 4, 2017
Once I started reading this book, I couldn't stop! When I finished the last page on the book I realized that I had read 7 straight hours! The main character of this book is a man hiding many skeletons in his closet. He is strong, humorous, empathetic, and unlike many pastors that you know. His story hits close to the heart of many Christians struggling with their faith and living in a modern world. He was hired as a small town pastor that was struggling. He drank and cussed causing shock to his … Read More

read with an Open mind.
Review by oisqueen May 1, 2017
I had great difficulty reading this book. By giving the mc Hadriel, Dante's last name, this story evoked memories of 'The Divine Comedy' although he doesn't visit the rings of Hell but rather the past rings of his love life. Dante had Beatrice, Hadriel has Sophia. This was not a piece about a great romance through the ages but rather, life. Period. I do not know if Azrael, the angel of death, allows you to revisit where you've been in your life. Or if there IS an angel of death. All … Read More

A True Love Story
Review by kimhiding Apr 11, 2017
Felix Alexander has created an allegory of unrequited love that has many layers. His protagonist Hadriel is a Catholic who has always accepted the presence of angels and falls in love with an angel of his own as a youth. The girl, Sophia, is named for the the goddess of wisdom and in a way, the bookish, always questioning Hadriel has been looking for wisdom. But for all their deep feelings for each other, the two are separated when Sophia moves to another country. Yet he never forgets her or stops … Read More
