A Bawdy Romp Through Time
Review by Paul L Arvidson Feb 25, 2018
This was a proper page turner! It’s really difficult to describe any of the story without spoilers as it’s such a switchback ride. But the essence is “Woman from 21st Century gets thrown back in time and hooks up with highwayman”. That turns out just as exciting as it sounds. The characters are believable, challenging and likable. C J Bahr gets the history right, dropping it in as the story unfolds but never having ‘hey look at this cool thing I know’ crop up at all. She sets and paces … Read More

In Deep ... Stacy Gold
Review by Barj Feb 21, 2018
Sophie Tremore and Emerald Mountain Ski Patrol Director Max Demford have a history together, but they went their separate ways. Sophie is now working for Max, he knows the job is dangerous and has feelings for her still and is trying to keep her safe, but Sophie wants to do what she has trained for. What happens when Max lets her with him by her side made for an interesting story, which I enjoyed reading. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

Captivating, moving and surprising, this book is a great read
Review by lacrimsonfemme Feb 21, 2018
This story kicks off a new series from the talented Ms. Brooks. I am hooked on her stories and I can not wait to read the next book in this series. Quite frankly, she is an auto-read author for me now. I will pick up the book without reading her book blurb. I enjoyed going into this story cold. I wasn't sure what to expect. From the first page, the story pulled me in. As the story unfolds, the reader learns more about this McKay family. I'm in love with this family created from the heart. … Read More

Romances not my thing, but I loved this book!
Review by Paul L Arvidson Feb 21, 2018
Romances are not normally my thing. I a bit more of a rayguns and robots kinda guy, but I loved this book. I guess it touched something in me, I used to be a theatre technician. It’s the height of the 80’s: AIDS, Regan, The Berlin Wall. Fading Ballerina Peri changes partners and the new one, the young Mark, is full of surprises. Erin Bomboy draws a beautiful and believable ballet world (though for me it could use a Glossary for some of the ballet terms, I like a good glossary!) I think because … Read More

A Charming Story about a Simpler Time
Review by jeepwonder Feb 14, 2018
In todays busy world, it's easy to idealize yesteryear, and more specifically that time in small towns. The author took a trip backwards 75-80 years and portrayed life in small town America. From the upper and lower societies having separate neighborhoods to the values that each had. Life wasn't portrayed as perfect, but is was obviously simpler. Once the reader understood that, then the slower pace and the lack of explosive action was fine. It's not a thriller, but instead a charming glimpse … Read More

Masterful Suspense on so many levels
Review by jeepwonder Feb 10, 2018
The author spun a charming romance into something so much more. With subplots and the skillful use of minor characters life in a small town was realistic, even when strange things started happening. The plot was well paced, never leaving me waiting for the next shoe to drop. The characters developed and matured as the story unfolded. I was glad that no stereotypes shackled the author in the telling, good people had flaws. That doesn't happen in all stories, but it tugged at my heart strings … Read More

Review by Hot Choco and Books Feb 8, 2018
TAME THE BEAST is an enjoyable college romance with all the drama and identity searching. Adam is a typical hero--rich, privileged, spoiled, a manwhore. Although I have to say that he became the latter due to something in his past, so maybe he has a valid reason than most heroes. I feel for him; he shouldn't have had to experience that. Some people use tragedies/disappointments as stepping stones to growing up, however, Adam turned to drinking, whoring and generally becoming a disappointment … Read More

Operation: Chance
Review by Heartracer Feb 8, 2018
Reading a long book can sometimes be frustrating and leaving the reader bored. I hate reading books like that because it feels as if the story is dragging on the way past its limits. This book, however, changed my mind! The book starts out with a father of three girls, deceased wife Gracie due to cancer. The girls are the only thing that keeps Emmit McKay sane these days. He sold the home that he lived with his wife until she passed away and moved back into his childhood home. Casey is 10 yrs … Read More

When the thirst for knowlege becomes the thirst for blood
Review by leslieo Jan 21, 2018
Brogio is a vampire of old. So old that he was cursed by the gods. More than once. When he meets Kane, we are left to wonder how a vampire, as old as he, is so easily found out by Kane in Carol McKibben’s KANE: THE FIRST BLOOD SON. Likes: The camaraderie between Brogio and Kane was fun to read as their relationship as father and son was strengthened. I’m also a sucker for period pieces and enjoyed the setting for the story. While this is a novella, the characters are developed well and we … Read More
