Screw-ups don’t get second chances. That’s what Caitlin Malone believes when she returns to Oregon after failing her first Northstar Security assignment. When she inadvertently stumbles across a plot to steal deadly pathogens from the bio-lab near her hometown, she sees a chance at redemption. USDA Forest Ranger, John ‘Mac’ MacAlistair, doesn’t want to babysit the motorcycle club holding their annual rally in his national forest. To make matters worse, Caitlin is attending the rally with Mac’s estranged uncle. Having her home again brings up feelings that are better left buried. It’s early September. Any spark will send the dry timber into a raging fire. The terrorists are counting on that distraction to work in their favor. When Caitlin is trapped by the wildfire, her only hope of rescue is pinned on Mac, the man she's tried two years to forget. Before they can share their feelings, Mac and Caitlin must first escape the burning forest and stop the terrorists from releasing the deadly pathogens.

I can't put it down!
Jun 27, 2015
I enjoyed this suspenseful ride from start to finish! Wow, what a ride! I finished this book in one day. I can't put it down. The first page started with some action, with Caitlin going on a mission for private security agency, Northstar Security. Immediately, I was sucked into the book with the thrilling surveillance scene! She lost her quarry and caused her partner to be shot at. It's refreshing to see a heroine who failed her assignment. Her issues and headbutt arguments with her father are also Read More

Non-stop Excitement - A Must Read for Action-Lovers!
Jul 9, 2015 (Edited Jul 9, 2015)
The excitement is non-stop from start to finish. From the very start, the heroine Caitlyn is on a mission which she screwed up. Then, she stumbled upon a terrorist plot, which she sees as a way of redeeming herself. The psychology of how Smith, the terrorist, recruited Dunn to help him is brilliantly portrayed. The suspense in the entire story is brilliant and fantastic. I was practically on the edge of my seat the entire time. I continue turning the pages frantically, wondering what's Read More

Following a parent's footsteps
Nov 23, 2015
Following a parent's footsteps is usually something a parent is proud of, but when Caitlin follows her father's footsteps, it is the opposite. Caitlin wants to go into law enforcement just like her father. She even goes to work for Northstar Security which is the company her father help founded. The apple does not fall far the tree because she is just as stubborn as Daddy Dearest. This story is less about the terrorist activity and more about a strained daddy and daughter relationship. It Read More

Absolutely fabulous!
Sep 1, 2015
This story was full of suspense, action, terrorists, a motorcycle gang, a forest ranger, family issues and sexual tension as high as a mountain. Not only that the heroine of this book was awesome! Caitlyn is smart, tough, determined, stubborn, yet vulnerable and a bit psychic. Mac, the love of her life is a sexy forest ranger, childhood friend & protector, strong-willed, smart, confused & conflicted.I thought both were just great characters. The supporting characters were also interesting Read More

Exciting Read
Aug 13, 2015
I've long been a fan of the romantic suspense genre and Stanalei Fletcher does not let me down with Proving Ground. The opening scene sets the stage for a fast-paced novel filled with a variety of pitfalls that keeps the H/H on the run and the reader on the edge of their seats. The author does a credible job of bringing the characters to life on the page and provides a sensational backdrop for the suspense. I recommend this book to anyone who appreciates a strong heroine and a hero to swoon over. Read More

Interesting and unique
Jul 22, 2015 (Edited Jul 22, 2015)
PROVING GROUND is an interestingly unique suspense read. True, there are the inevitable surveillance and chase of the bad guys, the running out of time for the good guys, but this is the first time that I've read about running from an environmental threat like a forest fire. Caitlin's inexperience caused her to botch her first assignment, and her boss ordered her to go home to her father, with whom she had a falling-out. Since she wished to keep her job, she had no choice but to follow orders, Read More

Review copy provided via Reading Alley in exchange for an honest review. Stanealei Fletcher, author, has done an awesome job blending mystery, romance, action and terrorists with a splash of forest fires and deadly pathogens. This book kept me reading til I could not hold my eyes open. Did not want to put this down. The character development is wonderful and the action is nicely paced. I enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who likes suspense.

Caitlyn Malone is following in her father's footsteps by joining Northstar Security. After her first assignment goes bad she goes back home to talk to her father. Upon returning home she is reunited with John MacAlistair whom she is in love with. The story takes these two through a forest fire and confronting a terrorist. Stanalei Fletcher does a great job of keeping you on the edge of your seat and making it hard to put this book down. I loved the interactions between Cait and Mac and the supporting Read More
