Summary
Catastrophe changes Margaret Ogilvie’s life when her three older brothers drown. She undertakes a perilous journey across the Scottish Highlands seeking the protection of the man she was betrothed to as a child; a nobleman she hasn’t seen for eight years. Shocked to discover his role in the assassination of a king has implicated her in his plot to take the throne, she finds herself in dire need of a champion. Rheade Robertson is duty bound to aid his older brother, the clan chieftain, in his sworn quest to capture the assassins of King James Stewart. Protecting Margaret from persecution will mean defying his brother. Can he bring the murderers to justice and save an innocent woman from the executioner’s axe? Or will family rivalry and a vengeful queen destroy his hopes for a future with the courageous lass he loves?

Great Historical Read
Aug 4, 2015
Most Historical Romance stories are Romances that happen to take place in a historical setting. This book takes a different path and puts a Romance in the middle of a historical event. I liked how the author used the historical events to bring the two characters together and showing their struggles for acceptance. There is a little bit of paranormal that hints at further stories that I look forward to reading in the future. I definitely would recommend this book and this author.

An Exciting, Well-Written Story!!
Jul 16, 2015 (Edited Jul 17, 2015)
Well written and well researched, Pride of the Clan is an exciting and brilliantly written story set at a historical time. In 14th century Scotland, the king has just been assassinated and an all out hunt has transpired to arrest the perpetrators. Not knowing this, Margaret and her relatives travel to meet her betrothed, who happens to be one of the conspirators. Margaret was soon captured by Rheade, who not only determines her innocence, but was also captivated by her beauty and elegance, and Read More

A must read!

What an exciting time to be in! Full of danger and violence in an unstable political situation! I'm sure Margaret didn't think so, though. Still, she had Rheade to be her champion, and the sparks practically sizzled between them. The chemistry between them was hot, and their romance believable. I love medieval romances and this story is no exception! I like that it was set in a time of history that was real, and there's enough real flavor--interaction with real figures in history like the queen, Read More

Good read

I enjoyed the book. The characters were well developed and very likable . The chemistry between the lead was strong. It did seemd rushed at the end. The historical aspect was interesting and intriguing. The authors description of people, places, smells, and clothes had you right there in the heart of the story. The author was very descriptive of the older brother's lack of hygiene had me cringing every time I read his name. The subplot of if his older brother was really his brother was interesting Read More

Captivating

PRIDE OF THE CLAN is a marvelous medieval romance with a hint of the paranormal. Exciting, action-packed scenes are a stark contrast to the romance between Rheade and Margaret, and all this as a whole combined into a wonderfully-written historical romance. When King James Stewart was assassinated, Clan Robertson vowed to bring his murderers to justice, and being a loyal member of the clan, Rheade Robertson supported his brother's (the Chieftain) mission. However, when he chanced upon Margaret Read More

Great Historical Romance
Jan 20, 2016
A wonderful historical romance set in the scottish highlands. I was actually on my seat much of the time trying to figure what would happen next. I wasn't really sure if Margaret and Rheade were every going to get together. There was twists, turns, and suspense which I love in a book. Thanks for writing such a wonderful book and can't wait to read the next one in the series.

Good story
Dec 1, 2015
I read this book during the Thanksgiving holiday (I spent a good amount of time in the car driving cross country) and I have some mixed feelings about it. I'll start by giving a brief summary of the plot. It's Scotland in the 15th century and Margaret is about to meet her betrothed, who she hasn't seen in 10+ years. Turns out (unbeknownst to her and her family), the guy she is about to meet has just been implicated in the assassination of the king. Enter Rheade, one of the men who go Read More

Pride of the Clan

The story is so vivid, you actually feel like you are right there with the characters. It had me hooked right from the beginning and I couldn't put it down until I finished it. I loved Rheade and Margaret together along with the rest of the characters. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. Review copy via Reading Alley in exchange for my honest review
