Dr. Trent Moore’s life is complete-–a no-strings relationship, financial security, and great health-–until he is summoned to his father’s grave and discovers a grave robber has stolen one of his father’s bones ... a finger bone. From there, Trent’s seemingly perfect world spirals out of control. Strange occurrences happen, and the sexy lead detective informs him that a grief-stricken mother has placed a curse upon him. As his near-death experiences ramp up and he finds himself falling in love, he’s beginning to believe there may be some truth to it all. But will he run out of time before he can tell Ciarra he loves her? When Detective Ciarra Pacelli is assigned to a prominent judge’s suspicious death, she doesn’t know her little world is about to be turned upside down. She discovers other possible victims of a deadly Voodoo curse, one being the gorgeous and stubborn doctor. As she becomes wrapped up in protecting him at all costs, she finds she’s fighting against her developing feelings for him. Once she realizes she can’t, she gives her all in finding a cure against the curse that promises to take him away from her for good.

I have tried at least three times to read Deadly Curses, and I remain unable to get into it. The writing isn’t bad. The story isn’t bad. The synopsis is even quite intriguing. It simply isn’t gripping me. So please keep in mind that what I’m about to say comes from not quite half the book. The characters lack depth. Well, not so much that they lack it, but their depth feels canned. As does their dialogue. When I read this, I feel like I’m listening to one of those cop/FBI/courtroom/CSI-type Read More

Interesting curse
Nov 30, 2015
It was an interesting and very likeable story with a lot of mysterious elements ,that kept your attention from the beginning. There are interesting “Curses” as well and you root for the main characters to be successful in their endeavor to overcome the obstacle that they currently face. You like Trent and Ciara, because they were great characters and you enjoyed. The writing was really good as were the other supporting characters in the story.. So if you ever get a chance, check it out.

Review copy provided via Reading Alley in exchange for an honest review. Is voodoo used for good or evil?? Dr. Trent Moore can not believe that his is victim to a voodoo curse. However, detective Ciarra does believe and it is up to her to protect him. There are thrills, romance, mystery and intrigue. This is a wonderful book.

Compelling page turner!

I'll never look at voodoo the same way again. I always thought voodoo is used to bring trouble to someone who'd maybe hurt you, and it's certainly the case here. But, as also pointed out in this book, practitioners are encouraged to use it for the good. I like books that open and stretch my mind. The way the author mixes suspense with the paranormal (voodoo) makes this a fascinating read! Trent is a doctor and he doesn't believe he'd been cursed. But that's exactly what Ciarra, the detective Read More
